Biography

Private Alfred Williams passed through Peterborough East Station and signed the visitors’ book on 18 August 1916.  He was serving with the 2/4 Battalion Welsh Regiment and was attached to the King’s Shropshire Light Infantry.  He was with a group of four comrades Privates Walker, Evans and W Williams who were all stationed at Old Warden Camp, near Bedford.

Alfred’s service record has not survived, but we know from his medal records that he was awarded the British War and Allied Victory Medals, which informs us that he served overseas.
