Biography

Very little information has been found for Private Edmund Efferman who served in both the Lancashire Hussars Yeomanry and the Herefordshire Regiment and was awarded the British War and Allied Victory Medals.  He passed through Peterborough East Station on 9 November 1916 and wrote in the visitors’ book “Cannot advise you any better place. Peterborough Station Rest Room A home from home.”

He has two entries in the British Jewry Book of Honour, which was published in 1922 in London, to permanently record and honour the contribution made by the 50,000 Jews who served in the British and Colonial forces during World War One.
