Biography
Edgar Entwistle writes that he was one of a group of six soldiers from the 2/5 Cheshire Regiment passing through Peterborough on 29 September 1916. Unfortunately he left no further information and searches have failed to trace any military records for him.
The 2/5th (Earl of Chester’s) Battalion moved from Bedford to Lowestoft in mid 1916, the group were probably making their way either to or from Lowestoft. http://www.1914-1918.net/cheshire.htm
We found two possible candidates in Census searches, Edgar Whipp Entwistle who was born Middleton, Lancashire in 1897 and died in Bury in 1976 or Edgar Wellesley Entwistle who was born Ormskirk, Lancashire in 1891. The latter joined the Civil Service in 1922 and was awarded an MBE in the 1952 Queens Birthday Honours List.
We are unable to take this search any further with the limited information we have, could you help us trace this soldier? Please get in touch if you can help.
