Biography
Frederick Kenneth Carter was stationed at Ipswich and serving with E Company Berkshire Yeomanry when he passed through Peterborough East Station on 10 April 1917. He wrote in the visitors’ book “Very great Thanks to the young Ladies of the Soldiers Rest for their great kindness to me, owing to me being stranded.”
We are unable to positively identify this soldier as his service record can not be located. However, we have found medal records for a Frederick Kenneth Carter who served with the Berkshire Yeomanry and the Machine Gun Corps and was awarded the British War and Allied Victory medals. He was demobilised on 25 March 1919.
