Biography

Private F Webster was serving with the 2/4th Cameron Highlanders when he passed through Peterborough East Station on 7 December 1916.  He wrote in the visitors’ book “Many thanks for refreshment and kindness shown at Peterboro station”.  He visited the tea room for a second time on 3 June 1917, and wrote “Home from Home x3, They wher Sisters True”.  (The visitors’ book can be searched by date).

The 2/4th Battalion of the Cameron Highlanders was formed at Inverness in September 1914 and in January 1915 was attached to the 2nd Seaforth & Cameron Highlanders Brigade, 2nd Highland Division.  The battalion moved Norfolk in 1916, variously at Norwich, Blickling Park,  Kelling and Cromer.  To learn more about the Cameron Highlanders please seehttp://bit.ly/2EPHtiS
