Frank Gregory was born in Bolton in 1894, to father Thomas, a flour miller and his wife Emma; the couple had 4 children. The family were listed as living in Viking Street, Bolton on the 1901 and 1911 Census returns, with Frank being a 17 year old apprentice cabinet maker in 1911.

Frank joined the Royal Flying Corps on 4 February 1916, as a carpenter and joined 35 Squadron at Swaffham Airfield. He appears to have remained with 35 Squadron for the duration of the war, going to France with them in January 1917 until March 1919. He was transferred to the RAF on its formation in April 1918, and posted to the RAF Reserve in April 1919 and was finally discharged in April 1920. He was awarded the British War and Allied Victory Medals.

Frank married Ethel Morris at Castle Street Weslyan Chapel early in 1920 and it is believed that they had three children. In 1939, Frank and Ethel were living at 15 Bailey Lane Bolton with their son Colin. Frank was listed as a house furnisher and Colin an apprentice house furniture salesman.

His death has not yet been traced. Please get in touch if you can tell us more about Frank and his family.
