Biography

Corporal George Norbury was stationed at Grantham with the Machine Gun Corps when he passed through Peterborough East Station and signed the visitors’ book on 16 November 1916.  He wrote “Thanking you most heartily for kindness shown, also comfort of your splendid rest room, at G.E.R. Station Peterboro.”

We know nothing more about George as his service records could not be located.  His medal record reveals he had served with the Essex Regiment prior to the Machine Gun Corps .  It states on his medal card that he is “not entitled” to the medals, but  the reason for this is unclear.
