Biography
Corporal George Adam passed through Peterborough East Station on 30 January 1917 and signed the visitors’ book. He wrote: “I George S Adam Cpl Saddler of A Battery 320 RFA Brigade Thank the ‘Ladies’ of this Tearoom for there kindness shown to me in my hour of need while waiting for train on my travels. it is the best I have yet found and I can thoroughly recommend them.” His entry also refers to “Main Street Theatre, Dundee”.
We have found a George S Adam who was raised in Dundee, one of nine children born to James and Margaret Adam of Clepington Street then Stirling Street, Dundee. In 1901, George at the age of 19, was a grocer’s assistant. However, we have been unable to trace any further information to confirm that this is our man.
