Biography

Bombardier H McNicoll travelled through Peterborough East Station and signed the visitors’ book on 18 July 1916, most likely going to or from his base at Worstead in Norfolk.  He was serving with the 321st Brigade Royal Field Artillery which was part of the 64th (2nd Highland Division).

Henry was discharged from 68th Battery RFA as the result of a wound received on the battlefield and subsequently awarded the Silver War Badge on 25 April 1919.

We believe this soldier could be Henry McNicoll who was born in 1897, to parents Henry and Margaret McNicoll who lived at 16 Holmscoft Street, Greenock.  In 1901 the family had four children.
