Biography
Harold Leak was born and raised in Sheffield to parents Thomas and Catherine; his father was a silversmith flat hammer. The family lived in Moore Street and Ulverston Road in Sheffield and in 1911 Harold was listed in the census as a tailor.
Private Leak enlisted in the Royal Army Medical Corps. After a number of moves in England, Harold’s unit was stationed at Flixton Park in June 1916. The Division was inspected by King George V on 26 July 1916. The unit made a number of moves to Bedford, Wellingborough and Northampton in October 1916, where orders were received to embark for France. The Division then remained on the Western Front in France and Flanders for the rest of the war. http://bit.ly/2od1U43
Harold survived the war and returned to Sheffield, marrying Connie Rodgers in 1926. In 1939, Harold and Connie are living at Edge Cottage, Chapel-en-le-Frith, Derbyshire and Harold is listed as a wholesale bespoke tailor. Harold died in Sheffield in 1968, aged 73.
