Biography

Jack Garland was serving with the Royal Navy on HMS Ganges II when he passed through Peterborough East Station and signed the visitors’ book on 23 September 1916.

A Jack Garland has been identified aged 18, living in Leicester in 1911.  It is feasible that he was using the east/west rail connection to travel between home and HMS Ganges, which was a shore training base at Shotley near Ipswich.

We have not been able to find out anything further about Jack Garland.  Is it a name you recognise?  Could this be our man?  Do get in touch if you can you tell us more.
