Biography

This soldier was serving with the 2/7 Gordon Highlanders when passed through Peterborough East Station on 13 July 1916.  Apart from his rank and initials there is no further details for this soldier.  However, he wrote:

‘Off with a Draft at last.
After eighteen months hard work,
And should another War draw nigh
I’ll never join the 2nd Line.
Sgt: J. E. H 2/7 “Gordons’
