Biography

This soldier passed through Peterborough East Station and signed the visitors’  book on 15 November 1916. His entry reveals he was serving with 2/5 Battalion Essex Regiment, stationed in Harrogate.

He wrote in the visitors’ book “Many thanks to the kind young ladies in the G E. R. Soldiers Welcome (their kindness exceeds their charms of their personal beauty which is great indeed & may God bless them in their good & noble work.  P.S. And if thy every need any more knives sharpened thy can send them to the above address. —-“
