Biography

Soldier J H Thompson passed through Peterborough East Station on 26 May 1917 and signed the visitors’ book.  He wrote “Travel stained, weary, worn & sad. For hours & hours not a bite I’d had. When as from the clouds a meal most thorough
Was given by the angels of Peterborough.”

This soldier, signed J H Thompson, remains a mystery. His initial could be I or J, however we can glean nothing about him from the official records.  He signs 78 Victoria Parade SW as the only clue to help.  What did the SW mean?

Please get in touch if you can help us to identify this soldier.
