Biography
Seaman Rigger John Maclean passed through Peterborough East Station and signed the visitors’ book on 14 March 1917. His entry reveals he was in the Royal Navy Reserve, serving on the Motor Launch 128 (ML128) from the Naval Base at Great Yarmouth.
We have been unable to positively identify this serviceman however, he may have been John Maclean, born in Oban, Scotland in February 1885. Already a seaman, he joined the Royal Navy in October 1916 and completed basic training before transferring to the Royal Navy Reserve in February 1917, a month before the book entry.
