Biography
Sapper Lawrence Keenan, was serving with the 2/1 H F Company Royal Engineers, when he passed through Peterborough East Railway Station on 31 August 1916. He wrote in the visitors’ book: “My best respects to the ladies of the soldiers and sailors rest for the way I was received.”
Unfortunately, Lawrence’s service records have not been traced, but from his medal card we have learned that he also served with the Kings Own Scottish Borderers and the Labour Corps and that he fought in Egypt from 31 July 1915.
