Biography

Private Percy John Roper was serving with the Machine Gun Corps when he passed through Peterborough East Station and signed the visitors’ book on 15 November 1916.

His service record could not be located but his medal card reveals that he enlisted on 11 December 1915, and was discharged due to sickness, on 2 October 1917 aged 34 years.  He served overseas and was awarded the British War and Allied Victory medals, and the Silver War Badge.
