Biography
W H Finch passed through Peterborough East Station on 24 January 1917 and wrote in the visitors’ book “A very handy place when you got
to wait nearly 15 hrs for a train on Sundays”. His entry reveals that he was an Able Seaman serving on HMS Wolf.
This was a common abbreviation of the ship’s full name of HMS General Wolfe, which spent her entire war service with the Dover Patrol. For more about this ship please see http://bit.ly/2Dx71Rr
