Biography
Gunner William Turnbull Gibb passed through Peterborough East Station on 4 October 1916, and wrote in the visitors’ book “God Bless the good ladies of the Soldiers rest which is such a boon“. He was serving with F Company Heavy Section Machine Gun Corps, stationed at Elveden Camp where early development and tank training was taking place. http://www.1914-1918.net/tanks.htm. From his medal record we have discovered that he transferred to the Tank Corps after it was formed on 27 July 1917 and was awarded the British War and Allied Victory medals.
